Compliance Manager, NCRC National Neighbors

JOB SUMMARY:

NCRC is seeking a Compliance Manager for the National Neighbors program. National Neighbors is engaged in fair housing and fair lending enforcement, compliance and training, and is dedicated to creating public and private sector partnerships and programs that promote racial and cultural equality, opportunity and diversity.  It does this by increasing multi-cultural dialogue and access, influencing public policy, and developing national models that support healthy and sustainable communities through the realization of our nation’s civil rights laws.

The Compliance Manager must be committed to issues of fair lending, economic justice, and be skilled in civil rights law enforcement and education, including investigation, test coordination, training.  The Compliance Manager must be highly organized and possess good communications skills. This position reports the Director and Assistant Director of the National Neighbor’s program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Compliance Manager is primarily responsible for the following:

  • Coordinates Fair Housing and Fair Lending tests.
  • Conducts fair housing and lending tester training as assigned.
  • Conducts Fair Housing and fair lending training as assigned.
  • Conducts complaint intake, investigation & follow-up.
  • Implements compliance and enforcement initiatives in cooperation with NCRC member organizations, Sub-Contractors.
  • Ensures that all grant/contract and program requirements are met, and assists in drafting & filing accurate and timely reports with contract agencies and/or funders;
  • Supports NCRC Members by answering inquiries and providing technical assistance;
  • Provides staff assistance in developing civil rights and fair housing/lending workshops, trainings, and related programs including staffing the NCRC annual conference and other events;
  • Attends meetings on behalf of National Neighbors;
  • Collaborates with NCRC’s other departments on civil rights and fair housing/lending issues;
  • Assists and provides professional support to the Assistant Director and Director in carrying out civil rights and fair housing/lending activities relevant to the NCRC mission statement;
  • Performs other duties related to fair housing and fair lending as assigned


JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate possesses:  

  • Preferred bachelor’s degree;
  • Three years experience in fair housing or fair lending working with a private fair housing organization, or governmental agency;
  • Highly developed organizational, listening, and analytical skills;
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines;
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills;
  • Computer skills with mastery of a variety of software;
  • Demonstrated Commitment to social and economic justice;
  • Willingness to travel;
  • Creativity, energy and ability to work well as part of a dynamic and diverse team;


  • Understanding of nonprofit sector’s role in informing policy discussion through practice.
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Comfortable and organized in fast-paced, high-pressure environments with multiple competing priorities and deadlines
