Just Economy Changemakers Awards

The awards recognize young leaders, age 21 to 40, striving to reduce economic disparities and expand social justice in the United States both at a national and local level. 

The awards will be presented at the 2020 Just Economy Conference April 27-29 in Washington, D.C.

Whether through groundbreaking research, community organizing or progressive policy advocacy, these emerging leaders advance progressive approaches and practices that mitigate the nation’s regressive economic system. Their commitment to the advancement of low- and moderate- income communities and communities of color is significant to creating change. The Just Economy Changemakers Awards is a way to honor and uplift their work.

The awards recognizes leaders, 40 and below, who are making strides to create a more just financial and economic system for low-income communities and communities of color.

Professionals between the ages of 21 and 40 whose work is rooted in economic justice. For example, young professionals creating wealth building opportunities via housing, entrepreneurism, employment and financial products

All applicants will be assessed on the change and impact they’ve achieved in their area of influence.
  • Change: How does the applicants’ work steer economic and/or financial systems to be more inclusive of the most underserved communities, especially low-income communities and communities of color?
  • Impact: How has the applicants work improved outcomes for traditionally underserved communities and/or assisted the broader economic justice field?
  1. Public recognition – Awardees will be presented a physical award before attendees at the Just Economy Conference in Washington, D.C.  
  2. Free attendance Awardees registration fees for the 2020 Just Economy Conference will be covered by NCRC (a $500 value).
  3. Networking Awardees will be invited to pre-awards dinner reception with industry leaders, funders and fellow Changemakers. 
  4. Marketing – Awardees name, and org/title will be displayed, along with their name and bio in conference publicity & NCRC website.

Yes, awardees’ airfare and lodging expenses will be covered by NCRC donors.

The Just Economy Changemaker Awards will take place at the 2020 Just Economy conference on April 27 in Washington, D.C. at the Washington Hilton, 1919 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington, D.C.

All applications will be reviewed by an interdisciplinary panel of professionals convened by NCRC.

All applications are due by 11:59pm EST on Friday, February 21.

Applications will be reviewed from February 24 to March 13. Awardees will be notified the week of March 16.
