HOMEOWNERSHIP

NCRC helps creditworthy families become homeowners through homebuyer education and pre-purchase counseling, policy advocacy, and fair housing initiatives. NCRC’s HUD-certified Housing Counseling Network provides comprehensive housing counseling to consumers on topics such as budgeting, credit, financial management counseling, and savings techniques. With direct advocacy, testimony on Capitol Hill, and coordinated nationwide action, NCRC strives to develop public policy solutions that promote affordable homeownership opportunities. NCRC is also a qualified fair housing organization that works to uphold fair housing and fair lending laws across the U.S.

FORECLOSURE PREVENTION

NCRC helps homeowners stay in their homes. NCRC Housing Counseling Network mortgage advisors are available to help individuals with mortgage delinquency and default resolution, loss mitigation, debt management, and analyzing loan documents for possible fraud. Our mortgage advisors conduct assessments of the homeowner’s situation, develop an action plan, review financial information and credit to determine a sustainable mortgage payment, and negotiate on the homeowner’s behalf. We also provide in-depth analyses of individuals’ credit reports and work with them to develop a budget and eliminate high-cost credit cards.

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

NCRC provides business consultation and training to help women-owned, minority-owned, and small businesses thrive and create local jobs. NCRC operates the Washington, DC Women’s Business Center, the Washington, DC MBDA Business Center, the New York City MBDA Business Center, the Small Business Teaming Center, and a small business microloan program through the NCRC Community Development Fund. NCRC also provides resources for entrepreneurial initiatives in low- and moderate-income communities, and works with policymakers and financial institutions to increase small business lending to women, minorities and low- and moderate-income communities.
