Supporting Thriving Communities with SNAP E&T: The Example of Returning Citizens

September 23 , 1:00 pm EDT 2:00 pm EDT

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Employment and Training (SNAP E&T) program provides funding to states and counties to provide education, training, and wraparound support services in their communities. Ensuring that everyone, regardless of their needs or challenges, has access to these opportunities is important to fostering strong, diverse communities.

SNAP E&T can offer community-based organizations (CBOs) the opportunity to strengthen existing programs delivering these services, especially for hard-to-reach and vulnerable populations. Individuals re-entering their communities after involvement in the criminal justice system face a unique set of challenges finding training and getting hired for high quality job opportunities with living wages and competitive benefits packages.  In the following session, participants will learn about the value SNAP E&T can provide to organizations leading workforce development initiatives in their communities, particularly those with a focus on vulnerable and overlooked populations.
