October 23, 2026, Legis1, Bitcoin Association Lobbying Holds Steady Amid Crypto Debate
The Crypto Council for Innovation, Blockchain Association and Digital Chamber supported a draft of the CLARITY Act in a July 24 letter, citing research estimating that nearly 67 million Americans own digital assets. The letter reflects broader industry support for legislation that clarifies how the federal government regulates cryptocurrencies.
The National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC) opposed the Senate’s market-structure legislation in a Jan. 13 letter, arguing that self-certification provisions could weaken securities-law protections. NCRC also warned that stablecoins could shift up to $6.6 trillion in deposits away from banks, citing an estimate from the Treasury Borrowing Advisory Committee.
